Lee joined DRLC in July 2025. With over 30 years’ experience of serving in dynamic and high-risk environments, he is a highly accomplished Fire Safety and Health & Safety professional. He also has extensive service with the Royal Navy alongside work fire safety work within prestigious institutions such as King’s College London, Harrods, and the Victoria & Albert Museum.

Lee’s career began in the Royal Navy, where he progressed to key leadership positions. At RNAS Yeovilton, he served as a Watch Manager for aircraft crash fire and rescue operations, where he demonstrated critical incident command expertise. He also held the position of Establishment Fire Safety Advisor, stepping up as the Fire Safety Manager. In this capacity, he provided specialist advice, conducted comprehensive fire safety audits for over 350 buildings, and delivered training to more than 6,000 personnel. This has given him a proven track record in fire safety assurance, emergency preparedness, and the production of detailed fire risk assessments for large, complex sites.

Hassan Mahmood

Hassan is an accomplished passive fire protection professional with over a decade of experience spanning compliance auditing, technical sales, and fire safety consulting within the construction industry. He has collaborated with global manufacturers, specialist contractors, and regulatory bodies to elevate fire safety standards across the UK.

Throughout his career, Hassan has held senior roles within manufacturing and contracting of Fire Protection products. He has led third-party accredited firestop installations, developed robust compliance strategies, and provided hands-on technical training and site support. Currently working as a freelance third-party certification auditor, Hassan assesses installation standards for fire doors, passive fire protection systems, and compartmentation in line with UKAS-approved schemes.

Hassan is currently studying for his MSc in Fire Safety Engineering at the University of Lancashire, further deepening his knowledge and commitment to advancing fire safety practices across the industry.

Outside of work, Hassan enjoys travelling, playing cricket and squash, and spending quality time with his wife and children.

Dave Clarke

Dave is the lead auditor for the Southern Team. He has extensive experience within Healthcare fire safety, having worked as the Senior Fire Advisor for an Acute Hospital Trust for 23 years.

Dave started his career in the fire industry in 1975 by joining the Local Authority Fire Service. He served as a Fire Fighter, Officer and Fire Safety Officer until a forced retirement due to injury after 15 years. However, Dave stayed within the Fire Safety Industry by working for Local Authority Architects Dept. as their Fire Safety expert, and also in the Private sector before joining the NHS in 2000.

Dave has a diverse range of experiences in all forms of building types and occupancies, both in the Private Sector and also in Healthcare, which has given him a proven track record in the areas of fire safety design review, monitoring of fire safety maintenance standards and the development, dissemination and implementation of organisational fire safety policy.

In his free time, Dave enjoys caravanning, fishing and watching motor sport.
